Are heroic dungeons too easy?

Go onto any forum devoted in any way to World of Warcraft, you will find a thread on the site, often a long one lamenting the lack of difficulty in heroic dungeons. "Oh god, faceroll." or some crap like that. And while yes, heroic dungeons are often quite easy, there are very good reasons for this, as well as there are some ways to get around this entirely. Now before I go on with this...I understand this is the internet and no matter what people will complain. So really talking about this problem may seem a little pointless. It has just been something that has been on my mind though, so here we go:

Heroic Dungeons are a tier of content below 10-man Naxxramas:
Heroic dungeons are set to be at a difficulty where someone coming in with maybe one ilevel 200 craft weapon and some green and blue armor of varying ilevels can play a meaningful role in the dungeon's completion. In today's environment the typical minimum for "good" gear is tier 9, which is obtained with Emblems of Triumph (Which every heroic now drops). The item level of tier 9 gear is 232. Now that is a large jump above the ilevel 178 and up you will usually see a just-dinged 80 wearing. So the 232 standard that has come about has led to the easy instances we see. This cannot change for one related reason.

Heroic Dungeons are meant to get gear for new 80's:
Yes, I get that big guilds will have people who can craft 245 gear easily for any newly dinged 80. But for a lot of people, especially for those using the random lfg system, that ilevel 200 blue and purple gear will be good to tide them over while they build their t9 set, trying to reach the new standard. Making the current heroics harder for instance would be in essence, blocking out new 80's from ever getting better. I can see an argument to this, and that being that heroic dungeons in TBC were a lot harder than heroics in Wrath. This is true. But again there are two reasons this is the case, one being the outgearing situation detailed above. The other is a reason stated many times by Blizzard and that the very vocal minority has a hard time swallowing for whatever reason.

World of Warcraft is now made with the idea that more players should see more content:
WoW has been altered in median difficulty with the current expansion. It is a far easier game than it was in the past, and is because Blizzard has decided that being able to see the end-game content should not be in the sole dominion of the hardcore. Now a more casual player can enter ICC and do a great job there, while all the while getting better and maybe even downing Arthas eventually. So to that end, the heroics were made, and expanded upon with better Emblems, on the idea that anyone should be allowed to the end-game content, and now have to claw and scratch their way up there. Because seriously, there are what, four different raid levels now? (Naxx, Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, ICC) Then the 10 and 25 man versions of those, complete with hardmodes for Ulduar up. That's a lot of time to put into something, so yes, the process should be streamlined, haters be damned.

Ways around the easy Heroic problem, for those who need a 5-man challenge:
First of all, you could confine your activities to the three new Heroic dungeons added with ICC. These dungeons are a considerable step up in difficulty, even from the Trial of the Champion instance, with gear in the 232 range on heroic. Halls of Reflection is a special type of fresh hell for those not knowing exactly what is coming. Fuck, it's even hard for those who do know what is coming. Next is, use an alt. Everyone was a fresh 80 at one point. If being too awesome is a problem, level a new one and suck all over again like you did back in December of 2008. The third option is actually the simplest, wear heroic appropriate gear. Sick of being too good as a ret pally in HoL? Do the whole dungeon in Savage Saronite and a Titansteel Destroyer. I guarantee you that you will not put up 4k dps in a dungeon that only requires 1800.

Conclusion of this rant:
Stop bitching, really. You do the dungeons anyway for your frost and whatnot. If you want your challenge, wait till your raid wants to do heroic Putricide and remember that the heroics are not made with your gear level in mind. Get over that fact and stop thinking the game should revolve around you.
